ROBIN'S TUBE CHALLENGE

On December 13th Robin Bray-Hurren braved the niches and furthest reaches of the London Underground network, battling *things* that lurk between the gap and avoiding the mutant tube mice, all in an effort to raise money for The Turbo Trust, to help Louis get a new powerchair. Robin knows Louis's family, and wanted to contribute to the massive effort they were making to raise the £21,000 they need to get Louis the best kind of wheels available to him.

The challenge was to travel the entire network in one day, but with the added difficulty of bagging every interchange, taking a photograph of the outside of the station (to document the change, and increasing Robin's likelihood of being arrested under the Terrorism Act - danger bonus!).

He printed out the ever-so-useful London Underground toilet map , and a copy of the general tube map covered in little numbers and arrows. He set off at Catford Bridge at 07:14, and hit the underground at Southwark at 07:36.

He fell into bed at 23.53, having travelled through 10 terminus stations and 42 interchanges,  using a portion at least of every line, including the entire length of the District, Central, Jubilee, Waterloo and City, and Victoria lines. If you want to see the stations he went through, click here

At the time of posting, Robin has raised a magnificent £546 plus gift aid, exceeding his target of £500.

THANK YOU

A big thank you from the Turbo Trust, on behalf of Louis and others who will also benefit. The really exciting news is that  6 days later, the appeal for Louis had reached it's target, thanks to the fundraising efforts of Robin and many others who enabled the Turbo Trust to contribute a massive grant of £7,081.89 to make up the amount he needed.

If this has inspired you to do something mad for Daniel, Millie, Dominic, Callum and Riley (our current applicants) and others yet to apply, let us know. Go to our donation page where you will find links to Justgiving.com and other resources.

We need you to be inspired!

Thanks to Robin and everyone who sponsored him or donated.

You have made a real difference, not just to Louis but to others like him who want to live an active, normal life in the face of difficulty, and for whom the technology and expertise is there, if the money can be found.
